Newsletter January 2010
After a disruptive start to the term we are all well back into the swing of things. I hope you all had a pleasant Christmas break. Thank you to all the parents who helped to clear the snow off our playground.
FAMILY LEARNING |
This term, in partnership with Adult Community Learning, we are running an eight week, free course entitled “Storysacks”. This course will give you lots of ideas to help your child improve their speaking, listening and reading skills. The course will run on Thursday mornings from 9.00 – 11.00 a.m. starting on 4th February. If you want to find out more attend, our coffee morning from 9.00 – 9.30 a.m. on Thursday 28th January or pick up a leaflet from school. Places are limited.
CURRICULUM |
The children have started work on their topics for this term. Years 5/6 are studying chocolate; Years 3/4 are focussing on Australia, New Zealand and the surrounding area and Key Stage 1’s topic is “George’s Marvellous Medicine”.
PARENT GOVERNOR |
I am pleased to welcome Karen Van Den Broek onto the school Governing Body as a parent representative.
JEWELLERY |
New guidance from the Local authority now states that no jewellery of any kind can be worn for PE. This means that studs must be removed before PE lessons. If your child finds this difficult it would be better if they did not wear their studs on PE days.
CLUBS |
All clubs run 3.15 – 4.00 p.m.
Bible Explorer, Monday evenings – there are spaces available for any child who is interested. Please see Mrs Head.
Dance, Thursday evenings – starting on 28th January. New and old members welcome.
